Mutiny Shaving is a Welsh-based start-up company, whose entrepreneurial direction is to create reusable razors and aims to become the most environmentally friendly razor company. Recently, they launched a shaver R1 with all parts 3D printed and can be reused.

3D printed razor

The reuse here is not the multiple use in daily life, but the razor can be recycled after being scrapped, turned into raw material after processing, and used again to produce the razor. According to Mutiny Shaving, the R1 is mainly composed of 2 parts, a 3D printed stainless steel cutter head and a 3D printed plastic handle.

The blade material of R1 is stainless steel, which is made by a metal extrusion process. This process is similar to the most common FDM 3D printing process, except that the material is changed from plastic wire to metal wire. This process has the advantages of low cost and fast printing speed, but the disadvantage is that the surface finish is low, the strength is low, and it requires grinding and heat treatment.

The plastic handle is made of PLA, FDM 3D printed, and the large, thick square handle is designed for easy drying and has a non-slip surface for easy use in the shower and bath. In addition, a blade guard is also set to ensure the safety of use. The R1 is priced at £25,99 with 5 blades and comes with a lifetime warranty (recycled reprint).
