Polypropylene epoxy resin is a modified epoxy resin system developed to solve the bonding challenges of non-polar polypropylene (PP) substrates. By incorporating polypropylene segments or graft copolymers into bisphenol A or bisphenol F epoxy matrices, it overcomes the "bonding failure" bottleneck caused by polarity differences between conventional epoxy resins and PP substrates. Its core advantage lies in retaining the inherent high strength, chemical resistance, and process adaptability of epoxy resins while achieving long-term strong bonding to PP and PP alloy materials. No complex surface pretreatment is required to meet industrial-grade bonding needs, making it widely used in automotive, home appliance, and daily necessities industries that rely on PP material processing.

Technical Parameters

 

Targeted Bonding Performance: Lap shear strength to pure PP and reinforced PP (glass fiber/mineral filled) reaches 28-35MPa, 40% higher than conventional epoxy resins. It is also compatible with other plastics (PE, ABS, PC) and metals, glass, enabling multi-material composite bonding.
 

All-Scenario Durability: After curing, the Tg value ranges from 85-125℃, withstanding high-low temperature cycles from -40℃ to 120℃. It exhibits excellent resistance to common industrial/civil chemicals such as engine oil, antifreeze, and detergents, and is waterproof and moisture-proof, meeting outdoor and humid environment requirements.
 

Flexible Process Adaptability: Supports room-temperature curing (25℃/24h) and medium-temperature accelerated curing (80℃/1h). Viscosity can be customized (50-500Pa·s): low-viscosity models for gap filling, high-viscosity models for structural bonding. Suitable for brushing, dispensing, potting, and other processes.
 

Stable Processing Performance: Working life after mixing (25℃) is 40-60 minutes, facilitating mass production. Curing shrinkage rate <1.5%, preventing deformation and cracking of PP substrates due to stress shrinkage, ensuring product dimensional accuracy.

1.Do I need to sand or etch PP substrates before use?
No complex pretreatment is required. Simply wipe the substrate surface with anhydrous ethanol to remove oil and dust before direct application. Modified components penetrate the weak boundary layer of PP, achieving molecular-level bonding and greatly simplifying processes.

 

2.Can it bond glass fiber-reinforced PP (FR-PP)? Will strength be affected?
Fully compatible with FR-PP. For models with 15%-30% glass fiber content, lap shear strength still reaches over 25MPa, meeting structural load requirements. The bonding layer also buffers interface stress concentration caused by glass fibers.
 

3.Can the working life meet mass production needs? Can it be customized to be longer?
Standard models have a 40-60 minute working life (25℃), meeting most mass dispensing/coating needs. Customizable working life (30-120 minutes) is available, but curing speed needs to be adjusted accordingly. Contact our technical team for formula optimization.
 

4.Can bonded components withstand high temperatures in automotive engine compartments?
High-Tg models (Tg≥110℃) can withstand long-term high temperatures of 120℃ and short-term peak temperatures of 150℃, fully suitable for bonding and fixing PP sensors, wire harness brackets, and other components in engine compartments.
 

5.Does the product comply with RoHS standards? Can test reports be provided?
The entire product series complies with EU RoHS 2.0 standards, with halogen content <900ppm. Third-party authoritative test reports (e.g., SGS) can be provided to support import and export compliance requirements.
