On November 29, according to media reports, a British man, Steve Verze, became the first patient in the world to install a 3D printed prosthetic eye.

It is understood that Weitz is 47 years old this year, and recently he underwent this left eye surgery at Moorefield Eye Hospital in London.
Muirfield Eye Hospital stated that Wize installed the world's first fully digital artificial eye for patients. This kind of artificial eye has a higher definition, more real pupil depth, and is also minimally invasive.
According to reports, the production of a 3D artificial eye requires a digital scan of the eye socket. After Mulfield Eye Hospital scanned Wiz's two eyes and created detailed images, the images were sent to Germany for 3D printing, and then the ophthalmologists in the hospital further completed the relevant procedures and polished them.
Muirfield Eye Hospital said that through 3D printing technology, the time to make a prosthetic eye is expected to be reduced from 6 weeks to about 2 to 3 weeks. The hospital will soon begin a clinical trial involving more patients.
