The Pocket NC five-axis milling machine is ideal for personal invention, digital education, and low-cost production needs. The role of a 5-axis CNC milling machine

5-axis machining is the best choice when a part requires a certain level of strength, is completely free of holes, or is made from a unique raw material. In these cases, even the most technologically advanced DMLS 3D printers will not be able to meet your needs.
5-axis CNC machining can be used to precisely modify existing objects with complex features that are not possible with high-end 3D printers. That being said, 5-axis machining is not a perfect solution to any manufacturer's dilemma.
Limitations:
It is a more complex process. While a 3D printer can be turned on and left alone, a 5-axis CNC milling machine requires more time and effort. This is because the stock needs to be repeatedly repositioned, calibrated, the tool head needs to be changed, and the CAM needs to be run in steps.
Its geometric capabilities are still relatively limited. Although the most complex geometry that can be achieved is more complex than what a 3-axis milling machine can achieve, it still does not compare to what many 3D printers can achieve. For example, even a 5-axis CNC milling machine cannot create a hollow sphere from solid material.
There is material waste in the production process. Depending on the technology of your 3D printer, CNC milling machines may waste more material (after all, it is a subtractive manufacturing process). However, this can sometimes be mitigated, as milling machine waste (such as aluminum and steel) can often be collected and recycled to make new stock.
